My html photo teleport trick

Our boiler is broken so we have no heating. This is the third day without my usually warm and snuggly house. Hopefully it should be fixed later on today.

Being cold makes me grumpy.....

So beware. I may bite!! ;-)

Anyway, enough of my grumbly rant.....but wasn't that a fab photo?

Quite a few of you asked about my little trick enabling you to click on a photograph to be taken to the relevant post.

It's not hard but it does involve some html high-jinks, which I'm sure fills some of you with pure joy!

But don't worry - it really is incredibly easy.

First of all, decide where you want your readers to be taken to when you click on the photo.

I want to take you to the post where I showed the tutorial of how to make a natural wreath so I went to that post on a separate page found that post and copied the web address in my toolbar.

Then upload your photo as usual (ta-daaaaa!):

Make sure that you've clicked on the html tab of your New Post and scroll down to where you find the photo's description in the html, which will start with:

a href="...."

The "..." part will give the reference of your photo. Mine was originally:

a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzTIX-18wUS7qwXap8lVh65r7cRvNOdRfQFtz6pG1L_8eZkg5VNYVvcodnFaQpDhGT-VPCC4_VpQiHvrhb9Dw13KYG1rx-7h9m5kqYFjtcvowJB9OwejBKVgFDPZWN8ArBPz9MKp86lDwu/s1600/IMG_3504.JPG"

Delete the part between the "...." but not the speech marks themselves (ie.delete the bit I've rather stylishly highlighted in green).

Then all you have to do is to paste the web address you copied earlier in the exact same place as the writing you just deleted. In my case, I'll paste:

So now the html should read:

And there you have it! Your very own photo-teleporter system. Now you can click on the photo and it should take you to my Natural Wreath tutorial post.

Repeat as often as you want with other photos...

If you have any questions at all then please don't hesitate in letting me know.

If you like this trick, all I ask is that you love my blog forever and ever and ever..... harrrrr harrrrr (*evil laugh*).

I hope you're all well and keeping warm. Think of me in our cold house..... Cold even with three jumpers. Brrr....

I hate being cold, too! We used to live in a very cold, drafty house (even when the furnace was working) and sometimes I would get so chilled I would just go get in bed under my down comforter and take a nap. That photo is hilarious!
That's a pretty cool trick with the photos! If you use Windows Live Writer, it allows you to do that without messing with the html, but I currently am not on an operating system that uses Windows, so that's good to know.

That photo is sooo funny! Reminds me of my first winter at the beach cottage. I moved my big comfy chair directly in front of the fireplace that Christmas feeling so sorry for myself! ha.
Good luck keeping warm! xoRoberta

This is HILARIOUS!!! LOVE IT! It's crazy, but THREE heaters broke in my house this week!!! Seriously! I'm not joking! And one of them is in my bedroom, which is not fun or funny for that matter! Now... my husband isn't very good with things around the house (shhhh :-) ) and I told him I can't sleep one more night without feeling warm! lol He's going to store today! :-)

So, yeah.. you're not cold alone, my dear..lol

Sort of reminds me of our Christmas Day when we lost our electricity and were without power for 2 days - no fans or air conditioning! At least if you are hot you can go and stand under a cold shower (not sure if that works in reverse for when you are cold?) Have fun working out that camera! ;)Sharyne

You can also use the "link" button when editing in Blogger. After you've published the post, go back to edit the post. Click on the photo and the link button is highlighted. It should show you the link under the photo. You can click the "Change" link to the right of the photo link and then paste in the address for the jump.

Great tip my dear!! How did you type this wrapped up so? :) I am so sorry about your heat, no fun. I hope that it is fixed soon, otherwise you can just pop on over!! :)

oh my, hope your boiler is fixed quickly! Don't suppose space heaters help that much? It doesn't get so cold here and generally small space heaters do the trick. The furnace generally runs only in the month of January.... but I am sympathetic nonetheless. Oh! and thanks for the super clever address juxtaposition! presto chango!

That is a great shot; I wanted to put socks on her feet. I hope that you are warm and snuggly soon. I've just been out yesterday and spent a small fortune on ceiling fans, that I hope the electrician can install today. :)

Hi Gorge (as in short for gorgeous and not George, just in case you thought I'd gone completely mad), you and your genius tips and tricks. How do you do it!! Bloody boilers, I'm sick of them! Ours, which I thought had been fixed, is playing up again big time - grrrrr (but not quite brrrrrr - yet). Hope you get it sorted tout de suite! Thank you for enquiring about the holiday. I'll be posting as soon as I can but just to say, there were blue skies and sunshine all the way and temperatures in double figures no less!

Wrap up warmly, old girl. xx

Oh no, I hope they were able to fix the heating problem today! And it has been so cold and snowy where you are, too. You all must be icicles!

Thank you so much for showing how to do that with the picture. I didn't know how that worked, but how fun it will be to try this! :)

And I wanted also to let you know that everything is going well here. Just a little more busy than usual this week, but everything's all right! Thank you so much for asking~ you are such a sweetheart!

I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Blessings,

Last winter our furnace had to be replaced and we were without heat for 5 shivery days. Thankfully we have a wood burner and electric space heaters (and hot water) so we survived.

I hope your heat is back on soon!

Anne said...

Brr! i sympathize; our furnace broke the night before last, with it being below freezing outside... I spent a sleepless night wandering in the dark, checking on the temp in the bird room and setting up portable heaters...its fixed now! Love the photo, sweater face...

I wish you some warm evenings to come!

Hi Sarah,
How horrible not to have heat! I could not live in my house if that happened, but hopefully it isn't -16 C at your house. My fingers are crossed for you that you get your boiler fixed SOON!
You asked me if my husband was a photographer for real and the answer is NO, he is not. He loves to take photos and he bought us a good camera that he took those photos with, it's a Nikon D60. He plays around with it, it's one of our great joys. We get into the car and go for a drive looking for great shots to take.
Thanks for your sweet comment, it made him feel so good.
Hugs, Cindy

Is Bigfoot True or bogus? For over four hundred years, there are actually reporting’s of a guy like creature which is totally covered in hair.
